Autumn time is finally there yay! New wardrobe, cosy knits, socks and a cup of hot chocolate when you get in. I love when it turns cold and the trees also change their wardrobe. Well with Halloween fast approching my mum wanted to make this Halloween extra special and scary. Outside she is planning to paint old boxes to make a graveyard, plastic skeleton hand coming out of the ground. Bet all the children will be so scared that they won't ring our bell. Maybe that was her plan all along. Clever mum. Well inside she is also doing some scary-fying. Thats where me and my younger brother and sister came into the plan - Making Halloween decorations. You could hang them up on a nice twig/Halloween style creepy tree or like my mum you could hang them on a bit of string and make a sort of door curtain (hawaiin style).
Now on how to make them:

1: get some Cardboard and make Stencils in the forms you prefer (I used a big ghost, small ghost and a mean looking pumpkin) The Plastiroc I got out of a craft shop, I am sure you will be able to get something similar (Mine is Giotto Plastiroc £3.99 for 1kg) You also need a knife, wooden stick and a rolling pin.

2: Roll it out, This could take a while, we had to take turn each as it was hard work lol.

3: When you rolled it out put your stencil on the plastiroc and cut it out.

And I must say the stuff I got smells exactly the same as my dentists putty, terrible memories have been coming back to me all day. Oh the braces!

4: Lift the Stencil and push the shape out of the remaining gently. make a hole on the top for the string to be attached on later.

5: Draw a face or whatever other features you need. (Also with the wooden stick)

6: Now you just have to leave to dry out completely for about 4 days, then you can paint them wonderfully scary colours or for a more grown up feel paint them to suit your theme. We used Acrylic Paint for ours, which is the most durable.

Be prepared to have a huge mess to clean up!

Enjoy,
xxx Susan
